OUR GUATEMALA PROGRAM IS ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

See US State Dept. website for updates

We are not giving referrals or taking any new clients as of September 1, 2007.

For those interested in adopting a child from the beautiful country of Guatemala, we provide adoption services tailored to meet your needs. Referrals of healthy young infant girls and boys are usually provided within one-two months of receipt of documents through trusted adoption facilitators/attorneys. Most available children are infants, but young toddlers can be requested. Due to the unfortunate level of poverty in Guatemala, there is an urgent need for families willing to love and care for these children.

Why choose International Adoption Guides?

Our agency makes trips to Guatemala about every two to three months; our clients may accompany us to spend some time with their child while waiting during the process.

We encourage our adoptive families to travel with us before the adoption is complete to see their child. This helps the family learn more about the culture of Guatemala, bond with their child and also, if both parents travel this may save you time and money as you will adopt with the IR-3 visa, and your child will have immediate citizenship when they enter the US.

We also see each child that we are placing to make sure the child is in good care and receiving proper medical care and attention.

A group of Adoption Guide parents traveled to Guatemala, during the adoptions, to spend time with their children.

We provide videos and updated photos to our clients after each of our visits to Guatemala. We also have contracted with a person who lives in Guatemala and is able to handle problems that may arise.

If and when you travel to Guatemala, we have a translator guide available to you while you are in the country.

As with all international adoptions, the medical exam the child receives before adoption sometimes misses a diagnosis. Occasionally a child comes to the United States with an undiagnosed condition. Our lawyer has the children seen by a doctor on a regular basis and we take photos and send them to you about every 6 to 9 weeks for you to show your doctor for a medical review.

Parents should be sure their medical insurance will adequately cover unexpected conditions and that they are prepared for this. Children also sometimes have varying degrees of attachment issues and/or developmental delays. Prospective parents are urged to study these subjects and be aware of how to deal with them should their child show signs of one or both.

Adoptive parents are provided with education so that you are made aware of the risk and the rewards of international adoption.

We have many baby and toddler boys waiting for homes.  Our wait for infant girls or toddler girls ranges from 2 months to 5 months after your dossier is submitted.
